6th Grade Orientation - WEB

This information was emailed on 8/2/26.

Hello 6th Grade Parents & Guardians!

We are very excited that your child will be attending Black Mountain Middle School, and we look forward to seeing them at our 6th Grade Orientation Day on Friday, August 7th from 8am- 12pm. Our WEB (Where Everybody Belongs) Program is designed to help get your 6th grader off to a great start! This event is for ALL incoming 6th graders!

WHAT IS WEB?

WEB is a nationwide program designed to welcome and support 6th graders by connecting them with WEB Leaders—positive, responsible, hand-selected 8th graders from our own school who have been specially trained to mentor incoming students. Your child’s WEB Leaders will help them feel more comfortable and confident as they transition to middle school.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

  1. Your child will receive an invitation flyer to orientation when they check in on registration day Thursday, August 6. Please note that registration and orientation are on separate days.
  2. On the date of orientation (8/7), your child should be dropped off at the front of BMMS. Doors to the gym will open to students at 8am. This is a student only event. Drop-off and pick-up will require patience and respect—this process will mirror the daily school routine for families who drive their students to school. Thank you for your cooperation.
  3. Orientation is a very active day!
  • Students should not bring backpacks, purses, or similar items. (A labeled water bottle or jacket is okay).

  • Please ensure your child wears comfortable clothing that allows for movement.

  • Closed-toe shoes are required for safety and comfort during activities.
  1. Lunch will not be provided, but snacks will be served during the session.
  2. Cell phone use is not allowed. No worries—if your child needs to contact you before the 12:00 PM pick-up time, they can come to the office and we will assist them in calling home.

This is a student-only event—we encourage you to let your child attend independently.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email Coach Furtak or Ms. Ha at [email protected] or [email protected].

We look forward to a great orientation day!
