Hello 7th & 8th Grade Parents and Guardians,
We are very excited to welcome your child to Black Mountain Middle School and look forward to seeing them at our Orientation Day on Friday August 7th, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
Your 7th or 8th grader will begin the day alongside our incoming 6th grade students for a short welcome, then transition into grade-specific groups for activities tailored to their middle school experience.
What to Expect:
During orientation, students will:
● Make new friends
● Hear from current students
● Learn about campus life, school routines, and expectations
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
1. On the date of orientation (8/7), your child should be dropped off at the front of BMMS. The doors to the gym will open to students at 8am. This is a student only event. Drop-off and pick-up will require patience and respect—this process will mirror the daily school routine for families who drive their students to school. Thank you for your cooperation.
2. Orientation is a very active day!
● Students should not bring backpacks, purses, or similar items. (A labeled water bottle or jacket is okay).
● Please ensure your child wears comfortable clothing that allows for movement.
● Closed-toe shoes are required for safety and comfort during activities.
3. Lunch will not be provided, but snacks will be served during the session.
4. Cell phone use is not allowed. No worries—if your child needs to contact you before the 12:00 PM pick-up time, they can come to the office and we will assist them in calling home.
